When I was walking through an alley I have never gone through before, I crossed paths with some mothers and children. The mothers were talking excitedly while the children ran after each other. I looked at them as I walked.
When I moved my legs, a girl that I didn’t know suddenly ran to me. I observed as she came closer. I smiled as I looked at her. When this girl had become very near to me, she stretched her small arms and hugged my legs. I stopped walking and stared at her with my smiling face. She’s such a cute girl. She hugged my legs tightly and I happily patted her head. I was wondering in my heart, “Have I met this girl or known her before?” My memory had no record about her at all, however.
When this girl was still hugging my legs, I looked at the mothers when stood faraway. Those mothers also looked at me and one of them came to me. This mother smiled to me as she pried her daughter’s arms away from my legs. The girl with happy face pulled herself away from my legs as she looked at my face. I smiled at her and her mother. I continued my walk as I looked at them occasionally, still with smiling face. This short meeting made me very happy. I was happy because a girl wanted to be close to me even though we didn’t know each other.
Let’s learn to be happy and friendly person just like this little girl. What? Hugging a stranger? No, no, no. Not like that. That will be a troublesome long affair. This is how we can become a happy and friendly person just like the girl in my dream. We can give genuine smile to people around us. They may probably be confused just like me in my dream, but in the end, they will surely feel happy because someone gives them genuine smile even though they don’t know each other.
I do this a lot when I am on the streets, at school or workplace. Some people smiled back at me when I smiled and nodded at them. Some people looked back confusedly at me. Some people looked back with expressionless faces. I was grateful because there’s no one who replied my smile with angered face yet. Have you smiled at someone today?
