A lot of people were gathering inside a room. They dressed tidily and elegant looking. More and more people were arriving while carrying gifts which had been wrapped in many kinds of shapes.
Were they celebrating my birthday? No, they weren’t. This party was my student’s parent’s birthday party. People who were arriving shook her hand to tell her happy birthday. They also gave her birthday gifts which they brought. I helped her took those gifts and arranged them on top of a table. It’s not me who were celebrating birthday but I also felt the happiness there.
As I typed this dream, I hurriedly searched for photos which were related to this dream. I wasn’t looking for my own birthday photos but birthday photos of children whom I cared.
Contrary to my dream above, a lot of people probably don’t get their birthdays celebrated by their parents or people who were close to them. It’s also nothing alike those in news, those teenagers who had their birthday celebrated in luxury by their parents. Some of these children I know don’t even remember when are their birthdays because they were never celebrated.
In simplicity and togetherness with their friends, they felt happiness because their birthday could be celebrated. I felt their happiness too.
Happiness is very simple. By witnessing other people’s happiness, we can also feel happiness.
